The Shark Watch

No this post doesn’t have anything to do with Shark Week. The Shark I am talking about is Jeff Samardzija.

I figured I would give a update on how he has been pitching since being demoted to the minors a few months ago

Since being demoted he made 20 relief appearences for the Iowa Cubs and compiling a 4.45 ERA which isn’t too good.

But things changed when Ryne Sandberg moved him back into the starting rotation. Since becoming a starter Jeff has a 4-0 record with a 2.29 ERA in 8 starts. He even belted a home run that went well over 400 feet!

Hopefully Samardzija will get the call by September when the rosters expand and he is given a chance to start in the big leagues once again.

As for his cards, I picked this one up off ebay last week

It’s a 2008 Bowman Sterling black refractor /25. I got it for $5.50 shipped off ebay which is a pretty good price for such a low numbered card. This now brings my Jeff Samardzija collection up to 121 different cards out of a total of 285. I’m mainly missing 1/1’s and low numbered cards and parallels.
