Orioles Bring Back An Old Friend

Today it was announced that the Baltimore Orioles re-sgined their former all-star shortstop, Miguel Tejada to a one year deal worth $6 million with performance bonuses.

Tejada, who originally signed a huge contract with the O’s after leaving Oakland, now has returned to the team that traded him away for prospects during the 2007 offseason. I really like this signing for the O’s, Basically, the got a nice haul for Tejada when he still had value, and then brougth him back on the cheap to fill some gaps in their lineup. If Tillman can keep improving his pitching and Troy Patton can get healthy and pitch well, as much as I hate to say this, Andy McPhail will look like a genius on this re-building thing.

With all the minor league players developing quite nicely, and signing low-risk high-reward guys like Atkins and Tejada, the O’s are looking more and more like they are getting ready to make a run at the playoffs in the next few years.
