Jason Bay Signs With Mets

Ok, I’m a bit late on this, but today has been an extremly busy day for me so better late then never, right?

Today, Jason Bay signed with the New York Mets for $66 million over 4 years with a 5th year option worth $14 million. Seems a little backloaded to me but since the Mets are in win-now mode, it makes sense to go after a player in his prime to fill their left field needs. I’m going to asume he will hit 4th or 5th after Wright or Beltran which will bring some much needed pop to their lineup in their¬†spacious new field. My only concern will be how he handles the outfield in a couple years. His defense is already dipping below average so odds are the Mets will end up moving him to first in a couple of years. I like this signing for the Mets and Bay seemed more of a fit for them then Holliday, who would have wanted a lot more money and more years, which would kill the Mets long term if they end up rebuilding anytime soon which looks like a posibility.
