Javier Vazquez Traded To Yankees

Today, the New York Yankees solidified their pitching rotation by adding Javier Vazquez, a durable, reliable, strike out machine who is expected to be the Yankees 4th starter. They acquired Vazquez from the Braves for Melky Cabrera, who a few years back, was their can’t miss prospect, the Felix Pie of the Yankees if you will. In addition to Melky, the Yanks will also send prospects Mike Dunn and Arodys Vizcaino, along with cash. In addition to Vazquez, the Yankees also recieved Boone Logan from the Braves.

I like this deal for both teams. The Yankees, who acquired Javier Vazquez for the second time in his career, got themselves a very nice pitcher behind Sabathia, Burnett, and Pettite. The Braves recieved an outfielder that they can use, seeing as their looking for an affordable bat, but they also freed up enough cash from trading Vazquez to go out and spend the money to get a middle of the order hitter with some pop. (hopefully not the Garrett Anderson type again)
