Diamonds in The Rough: Seth Smith

Unless your a Colorado Rockies fan, then odds are you have no clue who Seth Smith is. I don’t blame you though because after I pulled is auto out of my 2008 SPX box last year, I assumed he was another AAAA player like the other rookie auto’s I got. But after taking a look at his numbers, by 2010, there may be another young, talented outfielder joining Dexter Fowler and Carlos Gonzalez in the outfield. In 2008 he was called up to basically be a bat off the bench. He did alright putting up a .259 average with 4 home runs, but these numbers aren’t exactly All-Star numbers. In 2009 Seth got alot more playing time and boy did he take advantage of it. In 133 he had a .293 average, 15 home runs, 55 RBIs and a .378 OBP. Although Seth is 28 years old, he still has a chance to become a great middle of the order bat with a little bit of pop. He is the frontrunner to start next year as Clint Barmes’ name is floating around in trade rumors.

Seth’s cards are dirt cheap right now. His best rookie autos are barely selling for a dollar and printing plates aren’t even selling for $10 dollars.

Not bad for a potential 20-30 home run .300 average guy huh?

This card can be yours for less then $10.00 on ebay
